Coaching Issues On Dealing With Exam And Study Stress

No matter how much you want something for someone else you cannot set goals for that person and rely on them being achieved. The power within goal setting lies in the fact that the individual decides and commits to the actions to be taken and the outcomes desired. Having said that, coaching young adults is different from coaching adults because very often the young person does not yet have the life skills to find the answer for themselves and therefore input and suggested courses of action may be required by the parent or the coach, however, it is still up to them to decide what they want.
I would advise any parent to encourage their children to discuss their fears and issues about revision and exams and the stress they might feel under and offer support, understanding and some practical suggestions like the ones listed below.
1.Make a study plan and share it with the family and get their support in making your plan succeed. It’s often said that people don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan.
2.Identify the best time of day for you to study, not too late and not too early. Let people know that this is your time for revision and ask them to respect this.
3.Use quick revision tools that work for you. Create lists of facts, flash cards, mind maps whatever will help you. Carry them with you and in quiet

They?re small-business owners, company executives, attorneys, government employees and members of Hawaii?s nonprofit community.

A 2,700-acre ranch on the North Shore of Oahu founded a century ago by Hawaii railroad tycoon Benjamimn Franklin Dillingham has gone on the market for $65 million.

Energy Department to fund wave power test in Hawaii
The U.S. Department of Energy said Friday it would make $500,000 available for a year-long test of a wave energy conversion project at the Navy?s wave energy test site off the Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.
The funding presents a new opportunity for a wave energy project at the Windward Oahu base, which has been the site of three test projects by Ocean Power Technologies, which recently removed a 40-kilowatt PowerBuoy from the waters off the base.

Erika Lacro named chancellor of Honolulu Community College
Erika Lacro has been named chancellor of Honolulu Community College effective July 2.
Lacro, who is currently vice chancellor of academic affairs at HCC, was chosen by the University of Hawaii Board of Regents from a list of three finalists, who were announced last month.

Hawaii grants EIS exemption for geothermal exploration
The Hawaii Environmental Council made an important decision on Thursday that allows the state Department of Land and Natural Resources to do away with one part of expensive and time-consuming exploration ventures for geothermal projects.
Andrea Gill, renewable energy analyst for the State Energy Office, told PBN that each exploratory well costs approximately $5 million to $10 million to drill.

UH study predicts job growth in all four Hawaii counties
Hawaii?s four counties will each see job growth in 2012 as the construction industry finally begins to pick up on the Neighbor Islands, according to a new report by the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization.
The number of payroll jobs rose in Honolulu, Maui and Kauai counties in 2011, but this year the Big Island will also see job growth and all four counties are projected to see jobs increase by more than 2 percent in 2013, UHERO said.

UMSL to acquire Quincy Public Radio Station
The University of Missouri?St. Louis is acquiring Quincy University?s public radio station WQUB 90.3 FM in Quincy, Ill., St. Louis Public Radio officials said today.
The sale of WQUB is expected to be completed in the next three to four months, at which point, St. Louis Public Radio, 90.7 KWMU, will handle operations and programming of the station. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the St. Louis Public Radio network, WQUB will be called Quincy Public Radio.<div class="feedflare">

Peabody Energy leases 402 million tons of coal in Wyoming

The company bid $1.11 per mineable ton for control of the South Porcupine reserve area. The bid was conducted through a sealed bid auction process.

Antitrust review ends for Viasystems? acquisition of DDi
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news/Sindelar,DavidPromo2011*100.jpg?v=1'>Officials from Viasystems Group Inc. and DDi Corp. said today that the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 relating to the previously announced acquisition of DDi by Viasystems has expired without a request for more information by the U.S. Department of Justice or the Federal Trade Commission.
The transaction still requires approval by DDi?s stockholders, and the companies expect the transaction to close by May 31.

Gateway Classic Cars to open Chicago location June 1

Miriam Foundation establishes Cornelsen Diagnostic Center

The diagnostic center will provide free and reduced-cost assessment services for children who do not qualify for testing in the school setting and have limited resources to access private assessment services.

Barnes-Jewish to refund $725,185 to Wisconsin Physician Services

The hospital is refunding the amount of the overpayment to the Medicare contractor involved, Wisconsin Physician Services, as recommended by the HHS report.

Brown Shoe Q1 profit drops 54 percent

The drop in profit was primarily due to higher markdowns at both the wholesale and retail level, the company said in a statement.

Monsanto commits $50 million to African agricultural growth
Monsanto Co. said today the company is committing $50 million over the next 10 years to support sustained Africa agricultural development and growth. The company is supporting the New Vision for Agriculture Initiative, the Grow Africa Partnership and the G8's New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition.
