The main objective of a business coach is to help other people improve their competence and proficiency while performing a specific task or a group of tasks through effective advice and guidance. Business coaching is not just about passing on the knowledge and insight you have to those in need, but also to bring out the best in your clients by recognizing their talents.
Just as with any other skill, business coaching also requires sufficient knowledge and practice to use it effectively. Apart from acquired skills, a business coach also needs personal skills for coaching. It is through this tool that a business coach can bring out significant improvement in the performance of their clients.
For all those who aspire to become good business coaches, there are some essential rules to bring an improvement in the lives of others.
Once you have been appointed as a business coach, it is essential to set expectations. Setting realistic expectations and achievable goals are very important to bring about change. You will further need to explain why these expectations and goals are desirable and how they can help both the organization and the individual.

You can then raise or lower the targets based on the current competence level of the performer. You may need to repeat the whole process more than once in order to encourage and guide your client towards constant improvement. It is also important to acknowledge and appreciate every success, irrespective of whether it is big or small and at the same time be a critic of errors. Trying to end every interaction in a win-win situation is also crucial in bringing out the best in your clients. This will ensure every coaching interaction of yours is a positive experience, at the same time making it more acceptable to everyone. Moreover, this rule will also help you retain your clients. It is important to remember that unless you really connect with the individual you are coaching, your advice may not be of any use and you may not be able to analyze the situation properly. There can be no fixed rules for coaching, as it is largely dependent on a person own perspective of looking at it and delivering accordingly. However, the rules mentioned here may help you in understanding the basic aspects that a person looks for when he hires a business coach. Both federal and state regulators have approved Boca Raton-based 1st United Bancorp?s application to purchase Palm Harbor-based Anderen Financial.

Massive mortgage settlement has winners and losers

The deal is supposed to allow for financial relief to homeowners who are underwater ? owing more on their mortgages than the value of their homes. According to CoreLogic, about half of the mortgages in South Florida are underwater. Related Group plans new Hallandale Beach condo development
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/southflorida/news/SFBJ%20Jorge%20Perez%20315*100.jpg?v=1'>The Related Group is planning a new condo development in Hallandale Beach that would also include a hotel. The 31-story Beachwalk tower would have 84 residences and 432 hotel rooms.
The proposed project would be located on the Intracoastal Waterway, at the western end of the Hallandale Beach Boulevard Causeway, according to Condo Vultures.
Related is already selling units for its 49-unit, oceanfront project Apogee Beach in Hallandale Beach. It broke ground on the project in December.
Beachwalk is the 22nd project to be proposed east of Interstate 95 in South Florida...<div class="feedflare">

Direct Title president charged with fraud
The president of an Oakland Park title company was charged with wire fraud for her participation in a mortgage fraud scheme where Bank of America provided one of the mortgages.
Michelle Austin-Wilks, 38, of Parkland, was charged with wire fraud. She faces up to 30 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Austin-Wilks was president and director at Direct Title & Escrow Services. Equality Florida backs Competitive Workforce Act
Equality Florida's top priority in the current legislative session is passage of the Florida Competitive Workforce Act, which would add sexual orientation and gender expression as protected in employment, housing and public accommodations, the group's deputy director said at a Miami event on Thursday.

Miccosukees fight IRS summons of Lehtinen
The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is trying to prevent the federal government from using a summons to obtain documents and correspondence from its former attorney, Dexter Lehtinen.
The tribe sued Lehtinen, a former U.S. attorney, in December for alleged malpractice in failing to properly advise it regarding obligations by tribe members to pay federal taxes on income that may have been derived from gambling operations. Lehtinen denies the allegations.

Regulators block five South Florida assisted living/home health providers
Florida regulators said they revoked or surrendered the licenses of five assisted living and home health companies in South Florida in January.
The Agency for Health Care Administration said these providers are no longer eligible to participate in Medicaid and Medicare. They could attempt to stay in business with private pay, but most assisted living and home health facilities depend on these government programs.

University of Miami spends most on athletics in South Florida
The University of Miami spends more on athletics than any other South Florida university, according to a new database that analyzes Equality in Athletics data from the U.S. Department of Education.
The UM athletic department ranked 43rd out of 340 athletic departments nationwide, spending $57.6 million on Hurricane sports during the 2010-2011 season.
