I Had Business Coaching

I had been working at a company for several years before I decided that I needed business coaching. Although my position in the company was secure, I had taken stock of where I was in my career path and realized that many of my personal career goals had not been met. Although I had received raises on a regular basis, I had only been promoted once in 5 years, and my career seemed to be at a standstill. I decided to give business coaching a try.
What I realized as soon as I started receiving business coaching was that there were certain things that I was doing, and not doing, that were impeding my progress. Business coaching not only showed me how to attain my goals, it taught me how to evaluate them to see if they were the right goals for me. I learned what my responsibility was when it came to attaining my career goals, and what I needed to do to organize my time and my efforts

AAA said it expects about 34.8 million Americans to travel at least 50 miles over the holiday weekend. That?s an extra 500,000 drivers expected on the road between May 24 and May 28, up 1.2 percent over last year.

The airport's $415.5 million worth of bonds were downgraded to "A" from "A+" mostly due to Delta Air Lines Inc.'s service decline at Memphis International Airport. Local passenger traffic is projected to drop below 4 million, which translates into a more than 30 percent enplanement loss from the peak levels in 2008, according to Fitch.

</div>Big Star member, Memphis financial planner Steve Rhea dies<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/memphis/blog/morning_call/Morning%20Call%20sun%20Memphis*100.jpg?v=1'>Steve Rhea, a rock 'n roll drummer who went on to a successful career as a Memphis banker and financial planner, died Wednesday, The Commercial Appeal reports. He was 62 and had been diagnosed with cancer last year.
Rhea was a drummer in the legendary Memphis band Big Star, as well as several of the group's precursor bands. He also worked for Ardent Records before leaving the scene in 1970 to pursue a degree at Southern Methodist University. He was replaced in Big Star by drummer Jody Stephens.

so that things would start moving in a positive direction. Business coaching entailed more than just one-on-one discussions with a professional coach; there were group discussions with others who had the same career concerns as I did. These discussions were guided by a professional business coach so that they were productive for all of us. Bouncing ideas back and forth in a group was a great way to come up with effective ways to improve my career path. Through business coaching, I was able to find ways to attain my career goals and still keep a healthy balance between my work life and my home life, and it has benefited not only me but the company that I work for. UMSL to acquire Quincy Public Radio Station
The University of Missouri?St. Louis is acquiring Quincy University?s public radio station WQUB 90.3 FM in Quincy, Ill., St. Louis Public Radio officials said today.
The sale of WQUB is expected to be completed in the next three to four months, at which point, St. Louis Public Radio, 90.7 KWMU, will handle operations and programming of the station. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Peabody Energy leases 402 million tons of coal in Wyoming

Antitrust review ends for Viasystems? acquisition of DDi
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news/Sindelar,DavidPromo2011*100.jpg?v=1'>Officials from Viasystems Group Inc. and DDi Corp. said today that the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 relating to the previously announced acquisition of DDi by Viasystems has expired without a request for more information by the U.S. Department of Justice or the Federal Trade Commission.
The transaction still requires approval by DDi?s stockholders, and the companies expect the transaction to close by May 31.

Gateway Classic Cars to open Chicago location June 1

The company has operated a showroom in Fairmont City since 1999. It opened a location in Louisville, Ky., in August, and it will be opening a 45,000 square-foot facility Tinley Park, Ill., next month and hiring two new employees for that location this year.

Miriam Foundation establishes Cornelsen Diagnostic Center

The diagnostic center will provide free and reduced-cost assessment services for children who do not qualify for testing in the school setting and have limited resources to access private assessment services.

Barnes-Jewish to refund $725,185 to Wisconsin Physician Services

The hospital is refunding the amount of the overpayment to the Medicare contractor involved, Wisconsin Physician Services, as recommended by the HHS report.

Brown Shoe Q1 profit drops 54 percent

The drop in profit was primarily due to higher markdowns at both the wholesale and retail level, the company said in a statement.

Monsanto commits $50 million to African agricultural growth
Monsanto Co. said today the company is committing $50 million over the next 10 years to support sustained Africa agricultural development and growth. The company is supporting the New Vision for Agriculture Initiative, the Grow Africa Partnership and the G8's New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition.
